Sunday Ride on Mud Creek Road

It has been a long time since I have been on my bike regularly. This year I have taken my Seven Cycles bike out three times. It wan several months before that since I bike commuted to work. I can make up several excuses for not getting out on the road on my bike, but none are really valid. I will list them here ’cause this is a Blog.

  • The cleats on my shoes were worn out. The last time I was out on the road mid-summer 2018 my foot slipped off at high speed and I almost crashed. I ordered new ones and considered replacing them myself. I finally took them to Higher Ground Bicycle Shop in Tallahassee, FL to get them installed in January 2019.
  • I worked almost every weekend on the guest bathroom in the house. I finally got it finished last month.
  • I have been stressed out at work and stopped my bike commuting.
  • I completed an almost year long color pencil drawing.
  • I have worked on sevral freelance web development projects

I have spent my life making excuses to ride my bike and not ride my bike. Yesterday as I was riding down country roads I reflected on the many hours that I have spent riding my bike in the dark as I rode to and from work. I am so used to being fanatical about setting goals to run further or ride further. The one thing that is a constant in my recreational outdoor exercise, I start slow and then become a fanatic. This time around I am going to attempt to not be a fanatic about riding my bike.
