Urban Neighborhood Ride
Today I decided to ride my bike first thing so that I could beat the thunderstorms that were forecast to start at about 11 AM. I wanted to loop through downtown on one of my old bike commuter routes to the ASU East Campus.
I stopped to watch the construction equipment preparing the site for a new bank. One thing that I like about riding my bike is that I can stop at any point on my journey and watch the scenery. I have passed this site in my truck countless times, but today on my bike I could take the time to watch the tractors moving the dirt.
High Water At Flint River Park
Once I arrived downtown at the park, I was surprised to see that the river had risen quite a bit since yesterday. The lower trail along the river bank was completely covered with water and only a few bench tops could be seen in the swirling river. Yesterday I rode my bike under the train trestle with ease, but the path is several feet under water.
As I was getting ready to get on my bike to continue my ride, I spotted a turtle on the walkway. I have never spotted a turtle in the park before. I let the turtle alone and continued my ride.
